Hi, everyone! ![]()

Painting together turned out to be great fun. This time, after we received our E2046 recasts of little Dia from Houseki no Kuni at almost the same time, Koshkinsk and I merged in a single burst of inspiration—not only mentally, but physically too (so anime): she came over to my place and we painted together. And we’ll do it again. Because Koshkinsk is lovely.
The recast was very good quality and didn’t need any extra cleanup, but I did have to think about how to paint the hair and the stack of diamonds so they’d look beautiful.

In the summer I bought E7 Rainbow Chameleon from Animetropolis and had very high hopes for it. Later, though, after seeing it in person, I realized the pigment was too coarse and abandoned the idea after trying a thin coat on one paint spoon.

One excellent idea was to use a combination of clear colors, like akira_ccote did here, but then I unexpectedly dug Gaia’s Prism Blue Green out of the depths of my desk. It looked wonderful even when transparent, and Dina suggested painting the “inside” with Gaia Mirror Chrome too. The result was more aggressive and ultra-shiny ![]()

Somehow we got swept up in it and there are practically no process photos. I was surprised to discover that when I uploaded the pictures from my phone, heh. So here are the body already ready for assembly and a closer look at the face:

I painted the stockings and gloves with E7 Psychodelic Blue (because I had to try it somewhere)) + Mr. Crystal Color Diamond Silver, with that same Diamond Silver over all of the clothes as well.
The wooden sword was a particular source of pain—I never did manage to straighten it properly—and then there was the stack Dia sits on. Oh, that stack! I desperately wanted to make it transparent and shiny, but with my current level of skill, I couldn’t manage it, alas. All the various Crystal Colors, Prism Blue, and chameleon paints immediately made it cloudy to one degree or another, which is generally quite logical under the laws of physics :)
In the end, I simply sprayed the stack with that Rainbow Chameleon and added a little Prism Blue Green…

and for the photos I put a holographic sticker behind it to make it sparkle ![]()

That’s my little cheat. ![]()
This is roughly how the hair looks with light shining through it. It made for an interesting effect :)

And now for the result in 360 degrees!

And against a background of crumpled foil:

The little head up close:

The body from behind:

And some very sexy shots:

So that’s the sweet little Dia I ended up with :3 And I also have a bust of her waiting to be painted. I’ll try something new on that one for variety—perhaps that very same transparent technique…
Thank you for reading, and see you next time! ![]()
