Hi everyone! ![]()
With her owner Sgualo's permission, I'm writing a little post about creating an FGO goddess whom I was lucky enough to work on for Advent. By way of introduction, I'll say that I'd been somewhat missing deadline-driven challenges. I paint few garage kits and do it lazily, so this happy coincidence—a kit I'd be interested in painting appeared on my recipient's wishlist—was a breath of fresh air, and I took it on with pleasure :)
The kit came from Exquisite Model Store on AliExpress, though in general I'd recommend approaching the store with caution: kits may arrive scratched or a little soft on detail. It didn't hurt this almost entirely transparent kit with its small number of parts too badly. My comrade-in-arms had less luck with this store, but that's not my story to tell :)
At first everything went briskly and easily: check references, sand, install magnets and pins, wash:

Dry:

Because the leg is so beautiful, I wanted to keep the garage kit removable from the base after assembly, so I decided to put magnets in the flame. I couldn't make them invisible, but I'm still pleased with it.

Time for a weigh-in:

Seems fine!
On to painting. The bow came first because it was the easiest part: transparent red.

The body—everything is still simple so far. The gold isn't just gold, but gold coated with SMS Pink Champagne. The last photo shows plain gold before the coating (the yellower color); the coated version is on the left and immediately looks nicer :3

And then it started to hurt. There were attempts to paint the swirls without masks, with masks, and also some purulent surgery. Everything went into the paint stripper, and with no time left for further experiments and an overwhelming desire to throw the whole idea to hell
, I settled on the simplest version (in the last photo).

Next came some more straightforward rounds of enamel over gloss:

The hair worked out incredibly well—I found a Lascivus color in my stash that was made for Kama! White, but not quite; I shaded it a little with clear violet and it came out beautifully:

Now for the eyes. Since this part is cast in clear resin, I decided to paint the eyes with clear colors so they would remain transparent when backlit. It looks rather amusing:

Next, a new turn in the puzzle: the base. Although I had a pretty good idea of how I wanted it to look, bringing it to life proved somewhat difficult...
I ordered the base from a woodworker on VK. I'd had a large, thick, rigid rod from Verf na Stole in my stash for a very long time, and it finally came in handy. The epoxy came from Artline, some new paintable type (which I didn't paint in the end), and I also bought various bits and pieces at Leonardo:

So what do we do? Weigh it again first!

Then decorate the base before pouring the resin:

Ahh, it sparkles so beautifully. I love it when things sparkle!
Next came the display options, of which there were a grand total of two:

And with her hanging in place:

Everything's fine, flight is proceeding normally! Woohoo, it's the last day before the shipping deadline—quickly take some photos to remember her by and pack up the beauty!
And now I'll show you lots and lots of those very photos. Please forgive me; I couldn't bring myself to choose fewer ![]()

And that's all! MOLOKO and minami_desu were a huge help in getting me through this challenge, and I'm immensely grateful to them for listening to my whining and helping with kind words (and decals) ![]()
